Duck & Waffle Local

Duck and Waffle Local

Chef Director Dan Doherty and founder Shimon Bokovza unveiled an exciting new concept for the iconic Duck and Waffle brand; Duck and Waffle Local. D&W Local will be offering a duck-centric menu that’s designed to be served fast, without the restaurant price tags and importantly, without what has become as much as a 6 week wait for a table in busy periods.

Duck & Waffle founder Shimon Bokovza was recently quoted: “We’ve served over one million guests and almost half a million Duck & Waffle dishes since opening in July 2012. We are now harnessing the energy of the brand and bringing it to the street in a more casual atmosphere.”

The menu is exactly what we’d expect from this team at D&L, with classics like the namesake Duck & Waffle – a confit duck leg on a waffle with a fried egg served with mustard maple syrup. Alongside these classics are new gems like the duck jam doughnut, which will remind D&W regulars of the ox cheek doughnut from the original site and a duck burger made from crispy duck leg with whipped foie gras.

If you don’t like duck…

It’s not all duck – but it’s definitely the star of the show! There are however some wonderful looking vegetable dishes like the heritage carrot & spiced chickpea salad and the absolutely gorgeous baked & pickled beetroot with harissa, yoghurt & seeds.

Diners at Duck and Waffle Local will order at the counter before being shown to a table in order to allow for speedy service, while there will also be the option of pre-ordering for a set collection slot for those wanting food-to-go.

Chef Director Dan Doherty said: “We’ve seen that at Duck & Waffle people are ordering a lot of duck and loving it, so we thought why not explore that and focus on it while showcasing its versatility — it doesn’t have to be duck a l’orange.”

The new restaurant is situated in recently developed St James’s Market area of Piccadilly and the restaurant will serve right through from 8am to 1am.
