Quick Bite with Michal Snela, Director of Culinary & Nutrition at Love Yourself Meals Ltd.

The Woods Foodservice Quick Bite series is a 10-second download from a top UK chef sharing what’s on their plate.

We spoke to Michal Snela, Director of Culinary & Nutrition at Love Yourself Meals on his career so far and what inspired him to become a chef.

What would you say is the most defining moment in your career?

Firstly, I was fortunate enough to be surrounded by motivating individuals who supported, and continue to support, me throughout my career.

Most defining moment was having the chance to work with , and learn from, some of the biggest chefs, in the world.

What inspired you to become a chef?

It’s funny because, as a child, cooking did not appeal to me at all. As I got older, I started to realise that cooking allowed me to get creative and to experiment with foods

What piece of golden advice would you give to anyone in the industry who wants to be successful?

Set goals, Be passionate about them and work hard to achieve them.

Be confident in yourself and the skills you possess.

Lastly, who determines success anyway? Be proud of where you are today.

Any favourite ingredients at the moment or menu trends you are really enjoying?

Summer is such a lovely time of the year for Chefs. The ingredients are fresh, colourful and almost speak for themselves. Summer “greens” really are my favourite ingredients. They really do speak for themselves, on a plate.

Favourite dish on the menu that uses an ingredient / ingredients from Woods?

Difficult question, I’ve always struggled with picking just one ingredient. I do have a few favourites that I always like to work with. However, I really do love pairing ingredients to enhance the flavour of a meal.

I am absolutely in love with Woods wide range of spices  – from fresh to dried. We use those to cook our light Thai Green Curry.
