What's in season this May

As we near the end of Spring and beginning of Summer, you can expect to find plenty of delicious seasonal produce to star in your menus this May. Colourful and vibrant produce begin to make an appearance, especially vibrant green vegetables such as English asparagus and fresh peas.

Wye Valley Asparagus

Grown in the Wye Valley, a region of England that is located on the border between Herefordshire and Gloucestershire. The Wye Valley is known for its mild climate and fertile soil, which are ideal conditions for growing asparagus. Wye Valley asparagus is typically harvested from March to June, and it is known for its delicate flavour and tender texture. The asparagus is also hand-harvested and hydro-cooled, which helps to preserve its freshness.
Wye Valley asparagus is a popular ingredient in many dishes, such as salads, quiches, and risottos. It can also be steamed, roasted, or grilled.

Gariguette Strawberries

Gariguette strawberries are native to France, where they were first cultivated in the early 1950s. They quickly became popular in France and are now grown in many other countries around the world. We buy Gariguette strawberries from our trusted supplier French Garden, they source a lot of their produce from the world’s largest produce market, Rungis in Paris.  Gariguette strawberries are known for their sweet, delicate flavour and fragrant aroma. They are a popular choice for fresh eating, as they do not need to be cooked to bring out their flavour.
