I started at Woods in 2021 as a part-time order taker before moving into a full-time customer service role the following year. I then joined the sales team, focusing on business relationship management and supporting customer accounts. After around two years in sales, I moved into a chilled and frozen category manager role. Following strong growth within the chilled category and improvements to the range and supplier relationships, I was promoted to Head of Procurement in late 2025.
Woods has supported my development in procurement by funding my CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) qualification, which has given me the knowledge and confidence to excel in the role. The business has also trusted me to help shape how the procurement team operates, and we are now building a structure that delivers strong results.
My step from the various commercial roles I had experienced, into a new level of responsibility as Head of Procurement has been the biggest step forward for me. It has come with many challenges and learning experiences; I am extremely grateful to be in this position and to be trusted with the responsibility it holds.

I joined Woods back in 2015 as an order processor, speaking with chefs over the phone and handling their orders—long before the technology we have in place today! Since then, I’ve had the chance to work across several areas of the business, including customer service, purchasing, account management, and marketing, all while studying for and completing a business marketing degree. That journey has given me a well-rounded understanding of both Woods and our clients, as well as the wider hospitality industry, and it’s ultimately led me to my current role as Head of Sales.
It’s the people, without a doubt. There’s a real sense of teamwork, everyone pulls together with a shared goal of being the best at what we do.
It might sound cliché, but no two days really are the same. Hospitality is a fast-paced industry, and as suppliers to the premium sector, we’re always adapting to change. There are constantly new opportunities emerging, and with our recent acquisition, it’s clear we’re continuing to grow...there’s a lot to be excited about!

I started my career as a Fresh Produce Market Buyer, where I sourced products, negotiated with suppliers, and monitored market trends. This gave me strong commercial awareness and product knowledge. I was then promoted to Direct Buyer, taking on more strategic purchasing, supplier relationships, and larger volumes. These roles helped me build a strong understanding of stock flow and supply chain operations, which led to my current role as Night Manager, overseeing overnight warehouse operations and team efficiency.
Working at Woods has played a key role in my professional growth by giving me the opportunity to take on leadership responsibilities and be involved in decision-making processes. The company has supported my development through on-the-job training, mentoring, and exposure to different areas of warehouse operations. This has helped me build confidence in managing teams, improve problem-solving skills, and understand how to maintain efficiency and productivity during night operations.
Since joining the team, I’ve developed several important skills. Leadership and communication have been the most significant, as managing a night team requires clear direction and motivation. I’ve also strengthened my organisational and time-management skills to ensure smooth shift operations. Additionally, I’ve improved my ability to handle pressure, resolve issues quickly, and maintain high standards of health & safety while meeting operational targets.
