We streamline the processing of materials, minimise packaging, reduce paper usage and combat food waste through strategic partnerships.
For many years, Woods has been dedicated to recycling waste efficiently. We use in-house compactors to process cardboard and plastic, which are then baled and collected by truck when a full load is ready. Similarly, all unused wooden pallets are collected in truckloads for recycling. We also provide clean cardboard and plastic collection services for our customers, alongside waste cooking oil collection through our third-party partner, Olleco.

We actively collaborate with our suppliers to ensure continuous reduction in packaging, working together to minimise unnecessary use of materials from the source.
Our high-tech Warehouse Management System enables maximum operational efficiency. We have replaced paper-picking notes with scanners, significantly reducing paper usage.
Additionally, our online ordering portal, electronic Proof of Delivery (ePOD), and Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) software and partnership with Cerve have allowed us to minimise the amount of paper being used.

Food waste is minimised through advanced warehouse management technologies and the expertise of our skilled purchasing team. These efforts ensure that our inventory is managed efficiently, reducing spoilage and waste.
We are proud to partner with Fairshare, an organisation dedicated to fighting hunger and food waste. As the UK’s largest network of charitable food distributors, Fairshare collects our surplus food and redistributes it to local charities such as The Felix Project and communities, providing meals for those in need.

We now also donate our surplus fresh produce to the Foodcycle Charity. This takes place every Monday.
FoodCycle is a UK charity tackling food poverty, loneliness, and food waste by collecting surplus food and turning it into free, nutritious community meals. With 65 projects across England and Wales, they serve hundreds of thousands of meals each year while creating welcoming spaces that bring people together, reduce isolation, and promote healthy eating.
Every Wednesday and Friday morning, we donate surplus food to Holy Trinity Church, to help feed the homeless and those in need.
Holy Trinity Foodbank in Stroud Green, North London, provides three days’ emergency food supplies to local people in crisis. Open every Sunday, it relies on community donations and referrals to support those in need.
